I got a real African mask from a thrift store for $17. I painted it copper and put on a bunch of leftover parts that I had lying around. The eyes are made from a small fan and behind them are boot mounts for a snowboard. Then there's hinges, door locks and electric razor parts. I wasn't crazy about it (and was about to dismantle it) but in a last ditch effort I decided to try out adding some metal dreadlocks, and that saved it.
