Ever since I visited a tiny public library last fall in Mount Charleston, Nevada I've been nearly obsessed with collecting books and making small bookcases. I got all the HP hardcover books and wanted to make something special for them. This is one of the few things I've made from just raw materials - i.e. not bolting random parts together.

It's made out of regular plywood and took quite a bit of work to get the books to slide in just right. There's also finger cut-outs in the face so you can pull the books out easily. Before I made the display area on the top it could be used horizontally (like it is now), but you could also tip it on its side and display the books vertically. But I had to have handles on the side and interesting shapes on top for the visual effect. The items on top are things I had around the house that seemed Harry Potter-ish
